The Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO) is seeking a Registration Officer. We have one (1) permanent position available to start immediately.

The role

Reporting to the Supervisor Registration, the successful candidate will process complex applications for registration, perform detailed research and correspondence with applicants that may result in registration conditions, prepare recommendations to the Director of Registration regarding suitability for registration, and monitor specific conditions on continuing registration.

The Registration Officer provides clear and accurate registration information and a high level of customer focused service to registrants, applicants and the public; and acts as a resource for Registration Coordinators and Client Services staff, offering guidance and ongoing coaching.

Position responsibilities

  • Review complex registration applications ensuring compliance with TRESA and regulations, and any subsequent legislation.
  • Research all aspects of activity and past conduct that may impact suitability for registration, including corresponding or meeting with registrants or applicants to determine or recommend regulatory action.
  • Research and prepare proper evidence and documentation for the Licence Appeal Tribunal hearings and attend hearings as a witness to provide evidence when required.
  • Act as a resource for Client Service Specialists offering guidance, coaching and training when required.
  • Coordinate information and activities as appropriate with related industry and government bodies.
  • Monitor registrant activities to ensure compliance with reporting requirements and conditions established with the Registrar.
  • Respond to external inquiries regarding the administration of TRESA.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and experience

  • Degree or diploma in business administration or customer service-related field, or equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a regulated, research or legal environment, preferably real estate related.
  • Demonstrated superior analytical and research skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Mature judgement, initiative and independent work skills within a team environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of real estate sector and its governing legislation and RECO policies and procedures, as applicable to registration requirements.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office.
