Discipline and Appeals Committees

The Discipline and Appeals Committees (the Committees) are statutory committees established to make decisions on specific violations under the Real Estate and Business Brokers Act, 2002 (REBBA) and the Trust in Real Estate Services Act, 2002 (TRESA). While the Committees' members are appointed by RECO’s Board of Directors, these are not committees of the Board.

For each matter being considered, a panel is struck from the Committees' membership and consists of a minimum of three members. At least one member shall not be an interested party in the real estate industry and can never have been a registrant or a shareholder, officer, director or employee of a registrant or former registrant. 

Independent legal counsel is also appointed to provide legal guidance to the panel during the course of a hearing.
